About

Davenport Original Workshop

Davenport Original is a design and manufacturing practice based on the edge of the English Lake District. We specialise in designing and making contemporary furniture, lighting and homewares that are built to last. We work with private clients, designers, architects, retailers and manufacturers. Working with this client base we produce pieces using hardwoods, metalwork and concrete with the facilities to machine and manufacture all these materials.

Based in our custom-built workshop in rural Cumbria. We offer creative solutions based on a practical knowledge of a wide range of materials and their applications. We work with these materials to produce high quality well-made pieces that exceed our client’s expectation. We work hard to achieve the same level of quality on our larger production runs as we do our bespoke pieces.

Davenport Original started with the aim to produce well-made and equally well-designed pieces that are a pleasure to use daily by our customers.

We are a family run business that has been created from the collaboration of two minds from two generations. Each with a passion for designing and making quality pieces. Roger trained in Ceramic Design and has built up a lifetime of knowledge in a number of fields. After graduating he went on to work in design and product development at Hornsea Pottery and Royal Doulton. Later having career changes that included working in the construction industry and running a concrete casting company, both of which have added to his practical and creative knowledge that can be applied to our current and future projects. Rob has also picked up the creative streak and followed into the world of design. Having graduated from the 3D Product and Furniture Program at Northumbria University where he gained invaluable knowledge in designing and making for production and bespoke pieces. This fusion of ideas, knowledge and ‘a way of doing things’ powers our brand.

As our company has a collaborative nature in its formation we look forward to future collaborations to create individual and bespoke pieces for home living and architectural projects.
